Under the starry Tuscan sky, a lonely puppet-maker longs to be reunited with his long-lost son. Much to his surprise, his wish is granted when his newest marionette, Pinocchio, is magically brought to life with the mission to find and bring his son home.

Join Pinocchio on a magnificent adventure across enchanting Italy, deep beneath the Mediterranean sea, and into the belly of an enormous shark, in Alberta Musical Theatre Company's award-winning musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale!

Chassidy Andrews
Vincenzo/Ensemble

Chassidy or Chass Andrews (she/they) is a multidisciplinary LGBTQ+ artist based in Edmonton and is overjoyed to be a part of Pinocchio with Alberta Musical Theatre Company! Chassidy is inspired and dedicated to stories that bring light in a time of uncertainty while being accessible and inclusive for all. They have had the pleasure of being in many different shows in the Edmonton theatre scene and their time at MacEwan University including: The Doomed Prince (Theatre Prospero) The Witch of Edmonton (Fawn and Fable Theatre) The Prom (MacEwan University) Sunday in The Park with George (MacEwan University) Twelfth Night (MacEwan University) Legally Blonde (MacEwan University) Scamway (Cathexis Theatre) Spring Awakening (MacEwan University) and Company (MacEwan University). Katelyn Cabalo
Pinocchio

Katelyn Cabalo (she/her) is a Filipina Canadian performing artist based in amiskwacîwâskahikan/Edmonton. A graduate of the University of Alberta with a BA in Political Science and Drama, Katelyn is deeply committed to creating and performing work that highlights the voices and stories of BIPOC communities. She believes theatre serves as a powerful platform for telling these vital narratives, fostering empathy, and inspiring change. In addition to her work as a performing artist, Katelyn is a proud producer with her collective, Theatre Tahanan. Select acting credits include: Voldemort & The Teenage Hogwarts Musical Parody  (Darkstage Productions), Mothers (Bleviss Laboratory Theatre), Wally Wonka and the Candy Cane Factory (Jubilations Dinner Theatre), Titanic & White Christmas (NUOVA Vocal Arts), The Lobbyists (Azimuth Theatre), Everybody (Studio Theatre), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Grindstone Theatre), Razia’s Shadow (Citadel Theatre).

 

Kevin Thomas
Geppetto/Ensemble

Kevin Thomas (he/him) is a recent graduate from MacEwan University. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree majoring in Music Theatre Performance. He is honored and thrilled to begin his career as a performer here with AMTC. He’s had a blast creating this heartwarming story with a terrific cast and crew. Kevin looks forward to applying everything he’s learned over the past four years and make his amazing instructors proud. He is forever grateful to his family and friends for their ongoing support. His goal is to inspire the next generation of actors to perform on stage someday with this endearing story. He thanks you for attending and hopes you enjoy the show, grazie! Corben Kushneryk
Director/Puppetry and Movement Coordinator

Corben Kushneryk is an award-winning director, actor & producer that resides in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (colonially known as Edmonton, AB). Originally from Grande Prairie, AB (Treaty 8 Territory), he is a proud Métis creative whose work can be seen on stages, screens & festivals across Canada. He’s a graduate of the University of Alberta’s BFA Drama Program & holds a Theatre Arts Diploma from MacEwan University. Corben has worked on many major stages including: The Citadel Theatre, Mayfield Dinner Theatre, Persephone Theatre, Vancouver Arts Club, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre & Teatro Live! In 2013, he founded Impossible Mongoose, an independent theatre company that produces hidden gems & challenging new works. Notable shows include the Canadian premieres of The Alien Baby Play, 35MM & Coraline (Edmonton Fringe Festival Artists Choice Award), as well as Harold and Vivian Entertain Guests, The Fall of the House of Atreus (3 Sterling Awards) & Prophecy (3 Sterling Awards). He formerly served as Co-Artistic Director of Concrete Theatre, an organization focused on new & diverse issue-based theatre for young people. Some directing highlights for schools include six cinematic shorts for ARC: Anti-Racism & Change, a Sterling Award-winning Alberta-wide tour of CTRL-ALT-DEL, the 20th Anniversary of Sprouts New Play Festival for Kids, and their live-streamed pandemic edition dubbed Sprouts: Digital. Other notable directing projects include Razia’s Shadow, Working: A Musical (Citadel Young Company), Never, Never (Promise Productions) & You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! (Grande Prairie Live Theatre). He is grateful to all of the wonderful collaborators who helped make this show possible, and is thrilled to have you join us for the magic, mischief and musical mayhem of Pinocchio!

 

Stephanie Urquhart
Musical Director

Stephanie Urquhart (she/her) is a mixed-race pianist and composer. She is a versatile musician with experience playing and composing in a wide range of musical genres and styles. Stephanie's music has been featured at international events including the International Jazz Composers' Symposium, and with the Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra. Her modern jazz album Concealment was nominated for Best Jazz Album by One World Music Awards in 2019. Stephanie has released several albums as leader/co-leader with modern jazz group Stephanie Urquhart Quartet and video game band Experience Points. She currently teaches at MacEwan University's Music program and has also taught at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity's Creative Music program. Select theatre credits include: Legally Blonde, Frozen, The Sound of Music (Citadel Theatre); Crescendo! (Shadow Theatre); The Invisibles, Until the Next Breath (Catalyst Theatre);
Composer for Cinderella (2023), Music Director for One Person Hansel and Gretel (2021), Co-Composer for Sleeping Beauty (2019), Accompanist for Hansel and Gretel (2016), and for The Steadfast Tin Soldier (2015) (Alberta Musical Theatre Company). Yvonne Boon
Musician

Yvonne is a pianist and multidisciplinary artist from Edmonton, Treaty 6. She toured with Alberta Musical Theatre Company's productions of Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio, for a combined total of over 500 shows from 2018-2020. Recording this 2025 production of Pinocchio has been a nostalgic throwback experience! Performances include Citadel House Concert Series: We Are Family; What the Hell Was That!? (LSTentertainment), Scoobie Doosical, Merk du Apocalypse, (Dammitammy Productions)in Winnipeg and Edmonton's International Fringe Festivals; Nine to Five, The Drowsy Chaperone, (ESBCH); Changing Minds, (Eastglen HS); and subbing on Keys II for the Citadel's Little Shop of Horrors. Yvonne also accompanies often for YONA, soloists at the Edmonton Music and Speech Arts Festival, Sherwood Park Music Festival, and various local choirs. She is a registered music teacher with the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association and serves on their board. Outside of music, Yvonne's artwork has been featured at the SkirtsAfire Festival, Strathcona Branch of the Edmonton Public Library, and Bleeding Heart Art Space.

Sarah Austin
Stage Manager

Sarah Austin is an Edmonton (Amiskwacîwâskahikan) based stage manager. Sarah began her career in the arts as an opera and musical theatre performer, completing a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Vocal Performance at Western University, before pivoting to stage management. This spring, Sarah completed a diploma in Technical Theatre Production at MacEwan University. Select stage management credits include The Prom, A Little Night Music, Silence (NUOVA), Proving up (Ammolite), Heathers (MacEwan), and La rondine (Good Mess Opera Theatre). Sarah is incredibly proud to be contributing to the accessibility of theatrical experiences for young audiences.

 

Cory Sincennes
Set Designer

Cory Sincennes is an international scenic and production designer. His set, costume, lighting designs have been seen throughout Canada, Europe and Russia. He has garnered both national and international recognition for his design work, and is quickly establishing himself as “someone to watch” in design for live performance.

Beginning his education in Ontario,Canada Cory earned a degree in Architectural Studies from Carleton University before studying Theatre at Ryerson University. In the Fall of 2010, he received his MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Alberta.

Outside theatre, Cory continues to enjoy work as a Freelance Stylist, Visual Merchandiser, Event Designer for various companies and events, both large and small.

He currently resides in Charlottetown,PE, Canada.

 

Deanna Finnman
Costume Designer

Deanna has had a 17-year association with Alberta Musical Theatre creating costumes for shows such as Rapunzel, Cinderella, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, and Jack and the Beanstalk. Other recent credits include Two Headed Half Hearted for Northen Light Theatre, La Bohéme and Così Fan Tutte for the Edmonton Opera and Jane Hammel's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and A Midsummer’s Night Dream at the Citadel theatre, both which won the Sterling Award for best costume design.

 

Patrick Beagan
Lighting Designer

Patrick Beagan (he/him) is a proud halfbreed of Nlaka'pamux and Irish Canadian descent. By day, he is General Manager of Concrete Theatre and office mates with AMTC. As a lighting designer recent works include The Two Battles of Francis Pegahmagabow (Shadow Theatre), Songs My Mother Never Sung Me (Concrete Theatre), The Importance of Being Earnest, Clue, The Fiancée, Mary’s Wedding: a Métis Love Story, A Brimful of Asha (Citadel Theatre),  Hansel & Gretel, Sleeping Beauty (Alberta Musical Theatre Co), Honour Beat (Theatre Calgary). Upcoming he's lighting The Wizard of Oz at the Citadel.

 

Hunter Luth
Technical DIrector/Proudction Manager

Hunter is an Edmonton-based stage manager, technical director, and production manager. Selected previous credits include production manager and technical director for Rapunzel and Cinderella (Alberta Musical Theatre Company), stage managing Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel and One Person Hansel and Gretel (Alberta Musical Theatre Company), stage manager for Cosi Fan Tutte (Opera Kelowna), CTRL-ALT-DEL (Concrete Theatre), Deathtrap and Private Lives (Teatro Live!), assistant stage manager for Das Rheingold, Don Giovanni, Carmen, Stabat Mater and Orphée+ (Edmonton Opera).

 

Tiana McLean
Technical Director/Production Manager

As graduate of Grant MacEwan University's Theatre Production program, Tiana has spent the last two decades working in Edmonton Theatre, where extreme weather, fire, illnesses, broken scenery, aggressive prop handling, and fighting squirrels have taught her much about quick problem solving and remaining calm in a crisis. She is the newly appointed Director of Production at the Varscona Theatre as well as the Production Manager/Technical Director for both TeatroLive! and Shadow Theatre.

Past credits include Production Manager for the Freewill Shakespeare Festival, Head of Lighting and Carpentry for Theatre Network at the Roxy and Technical Director for Alberta Musical Theatre Company.  She is excited to be back with AMTC for one of her favorite shows: Pinocchio!
